Video | Not a princess, but a queen

On Yacoub Island, off the Western bank of the Nile near Giza, lies the Pharaonic Village, where Egypt’s ancient history is revived through live performances and installations showcasing daily life from thousands of years ago. In this video, photographer and filmmaker Asmaa El Gaafary takes us through a day in the life of Amira Maher, an 18-year-old actor working at the Pharaonic Village who plays the role of an ancient queen.
