Video | Ramadan in times of economic crisis

Usually known for selling Ramadan products such as lanterns and dried fruits, and for being the site of a number of free banquets, we look at how Saad Street in the Cairo neighborhood of Sayeda Zeinab has changed over the last year. These scenes from 2017 and 2018 show how economic conditions have impacted Egyptians’ purchasing power and affected how much they are able to spend and donate in Ramadan.
